Well, the meet's plan started months ago on Ondipuli's plan to come to Coimbatore. I had really wanted to meet Ondi, not curious just because of his avatar but he's one of very humourous guys I have met. We really missed our beloved Chinnakunjan very much, he was stuck in outstation (we got him in conference throughout the meet, negating his physical absence)
Once the meet was scheduled, there was a lot of buzz from several fellow members to come to the meet including Soppu sundari, Josh and other beloved VT guys. Another local guy, Kovaicows was unaware of the meet, so we planned to meet sooner.
The anticipation started soaring two days before the meet as Ondi was finally packing things to come up here. He told me of his plans and we decided that evening would be the best way for 'many things' and I never expected to find quite an unusual but exotic farmhouse kinda place so far from the city itself. It could not be any better than this and it was nearer to my place as well so I said OK
and started from my home. The road is so bad on my journey my bike shook violently on all the potholes and accusing and hissing curses all the way. I was quite battered and tired from my bumpy ride, on reaching the place, Ondi was instant in recognizing me. We shook hands and settled down. He calls me 'Gogo' despite my name which I like
We started with ourselves, our personal lives, family, his white collar job
and his future plans. Then we started our XB talk, we touched almost everyone here that we knew on the board. I am still amazed at the fact that technology could build a friendship base, we are friends without faces (but avatars
). We got connected to our beloved Hero and his best wishes to us
. Sanjjay is a friendly guy with serious madras dialect influence
whom we connected to him through the
later. Talking about XB is a seemingly never ending saga which continued forever. We talked about our beloved XBians and think tanks which made our stay on XB interesting and useful. We spoke about our VT veterans Unna, Pondy, AVS, Thirdeye (and myself being a VT veteran as well
) and the long gone golden days of first installment of VT. We talked about racecar. Pondy had promised to call us and got the number and he said later that he slept before calling us on the meet
We could not help but talk about the pest that ruins our happy stay here on XB. We had a nice feast dinner. Music was going on in the background while we changed topics one by one. We talked about Chennai, hell the place that is and about Coimbatore which is cooler and pleasant place. Our topic shifted to transportation in Cbe and chennai and how hard it is in Cbe to travel around. Saturday night booze as usual and had to limit to get back to home in one piece
I know there are so many things I missed on the review, a few things that will always be remembered. We took a few pics and shook hands and said "nice being with you" to each other and left. I took a better and smooth route on my way home and even experimented driving without the headlights on the moon lit night. What a night that was !!!
Thanks for all those who wished this meet be a success.
