I was reading somewhere that VLC cannot straigtaway play x265 videos. You need to download some x265 library and install it. I too am still reading and knowing this new thing on x265 encoding.

Anyway this xbeen video thread here which we are discussing doesn't look like it has any x265 problem but some error in those files is definitely there.

VLC has been supporting x265 for quite some time.

Hey I didn't know this Mrghostrider. Thank you for educating me. But I don't see x265 listed under the video codes list in VLC preferences. x264 is listed though. So I thought it plays only 264. My VLC is latest v226. See the attached image in the given link.

I played couple of x265 videos that I had. It did play but was jerky, don't know why.

Please recommend a good version of ACDSee

Encouraged by all your responses here I have one more request -
Which is the best version of ACDSee for Win 7?. I am presently using the old ACDSee classic and it hangs when playing gifs.
So can someone tell me which version of ACDSee is best. I don't need a lot of photo editing features, just image browsing is fine. I need a light weight version
not a memory hogger, and for personal use.

If this question is useful to everyone then I could start this as a separate thread.

Have tried multiple versions of ACD See. (incl. Pro version too) But all, repeat all of them, goofup while you open a folder with number of GIFs. Couldn't find any solution to this problem.

Looking for some helping hand, in this regard.

ACD see us really simple software, for viewing pics. That is the reason, can't find an appropriate alternative.

May be your Processor wasn't powerful enough to decode x265.

I came across this XnView Free Image Browser. Have been using it since a week. It has lots of features, no problem when playing gifs. You could also try it

Try IrfanView.. Even though its old, it plays GIF images without any issues.
