Dark web fugitive found hanged in prison cell after being arrested in Thailand
The man believed to be behind the AlphaBay online marketplace has been found dead

A 26-year-old man believed to be the founder of the dark web marketplace AlphaBay has reportedly been found dead in a prison cell in Thailand.

Alexandre Cazes was found hanged by a prison guard days after AlphaBay was reportedly closed down by US, Canadian and Thai authorities. Cazes was arrested on suspicion of creating the marketplace - which can be used to buy and sell drugs - and was awaiting extradition to the US when he was found in his cell.

Authorities believe he committed suicide.

The Silk Road was also shut down by authorities and its founder, Ross Ulbricht, is currently in prison .

As well as cocaine, ketamine, MDMA the main component of ecstasy tablets and types of cannabis, there were also steroids, morphine-like opioids, psychedelics and a host of other other illegal stimulants for sale.
Many of these items then shifted to AlphaBay and police believe that at its height the new marketplace was making between 400,000 and 600,000 per day.

When Cazes was arrested, he was reportedly found with Lamborghini cars and 9 million in Thai currency.
Dark web sites like AlphaBay are hidden from the majority of users because they aren't indexed by search engines like Google or Bing. They require a special web browser to find and transactions are completed in digital currencies like bitcoin.

But his arrest coincides with the site coming offline. It remains to be seen whether or not it will resurface or if another site will rise up to take its place.

Leave dark web alone. The unspoken dark lord will cast that ugly spell on you.
